Presentations
Here is a sampling of recent academic poster presentations by BioServe researchers:
Fish and Dairy Consumption and reduced risk of breast Cancer
Diet is a modifiable risk factor for cancer. Previous studies examining the association between diet and breast cancer have shown variable results. The present study examines the relationship between dietary intake of fish and dairy products and breast cancer risk in a large nested case-control study.
Obesity and Type II Diabetes Risk; A Multinational Study
This study examines the association between obesity and risk of type II diabetes (T2D) in a large multiethnic observational study. We examined effect modification of the obesity-T2D association by race and physical activity.
The present study also examines the relationship between genotypes and T2D risk in a nested case-control study.
Obesity Diet and Type II Diabetes Risk
Many studies have shown that obesity is associated with risk of type II diabetes. However there are inconsistencies in many areas that need to be resolved. Areas of particular interest include further analyses of effect modification by race, gender, smoking and exercise.
Exercise and Reduced Breast Cancer Risk; A Multinational Study
Many studies have shown that physical activity is associated with reduced risk of breast cancer. However there are inconsistencies in many areas that need to be resolved (Sprague et.al., 2007). Areas of particular interest include further analyses of effect modification by race, menopausal status and cancer characteristics such as receptor status and node involvement.
The present study examines the relationship between recreational physical activity and breast cancer risk in a population based case-control study.
