Real-Time PCR for Genotyping

BioServe utilizes the TaqMan real-time PCR platform by Applied Biosystems to quantitate and perform genotyping analysis for DNA using probes specific for human DNA.

This type of analysis is critical to analyze DNA obtained from mouthwash, Buccal swabs and Cytobrushes because such samples contain substantial amount of bacterial DNA that will interfere with traditional methods. For quantitation, BioServe utilizes RNAseP probe that is a single copy human specific probe.

BioServe synthesizes PCR probes for use in all the real-time PCR machines. These probes are dual labeled with TAMRA or Black Hole quenchers at the 3' end and either FAM, HEX or TET at the 5' end. All the probes are purified on HPLC. BioServe has designed, synthesized and validated probes to detect several pathogenic bacteria and viruses. In addition, BioServe has probe and primer kits available for constitutive genes.
