Quality Control

Our oligonucleotides are routinely screened for quality control. 10% of all oligos produced at BioServe are checked for quality control by mass spectrometry. This technique is currently the highest level of quality assurance and can guarantee accuracy in precision based on sequence and therefore mass. Any (n-x) and organic contaminates are easily identified and removed. BioServe currently uses machine grade, mass spectrometry checked oligos in all *SNP analysis, *TaqMan analysis, *DNA sequencing, and general PCR-based applications. Mass spectra for ordered oligos could be provided at an additonal charge, if requested. This is certainly a viable option/alternative to other standard methods of oligonucleotide purifications. Below is an example of a mass spectrum of an oligo:

In addition to mass spectrometry, BioServe routinely performs PCR reactions with synthesized oligos as an additional measure of quality control analysis. Below is a NAT2 PCR gel picture, showing amplification of a 1093-bp fragment.

Again, additional gel documentation picture depicting PCR work performed at BioServe. The PCR assay is based around the GST T1, M1, and B-globin gene. The product sizes are as follows: GST-T1=480 bp, GST-M1=215 bp, B-globin=268 bp.
